World Rabies Day

Many people around the world observe World Rabies Day (WRD), which raises awareness about the impact of rabies and how the disease can be prevented. It is held on September 28 each year to draw attention to particular priorities in global health. Since it began in 2007, the rabies community has aligned to make World Rabies Day a global phenomenon. State-Wise Dengue Cases And Deaths In India, 2012

Dengue fever also known as breakbone fever, is an infectious tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash that is similar to measles. Key Findings: 1) Tamil Nadu recorded more than one fourth of all dengue cases and deaths in the country the state recorded 9,249 dengue cases and 60 deaths and 2) In the past one year, the number of cases tested positive has gone up by 267%. The country recorded 35,066 dengue cases and 216 deaths. 

Global Snakebite Statistics

India is a country with the biggest amount of snakebite envenoming cases occurring each year: on average, 120 thousand cases take place every year in this country. However, India is the second biggest country in the world and that is why mentioned above number looks much less ghastly in terms of per 1000 population, namely, 0.1 cases. Bhutan, conversely, is less favorable country in this regard with as much as 4 people out of 1000 suffer from snakebite envenoming each year.
